Dear Friends in Christ,

We've been "in country" for exactly two weeks today (6/18/2002).  Needless to say, there is so much to do here.  We are just about finished unpacking now.  We found a house already and have moved in.  We are at the beginning of the monsoon season now with rain pouring like crazy for the next six months.  Right now as I type this email to you I can hear a gecko (that's a lizard) calling out his name.  They sound like they are saying "GECKO!"  One of the Bible College students killed a large gecko the other night.  He was so large that Leah and Kayla named him Goliath.  Well, Goliath is dead again.  A rather large rat met his fate also two nights ago.  The heavy rains are flushing them out of their "hidey-holes."

Seven souls have been saved in the first two weeks here.  Four men and three women trusted the Lord as their Saviour.  Of course, the seed was sown long before we arrived and we were here just in time to bear the fruit.  One of the Bible College students is staying here and doubling as a guard at night.  He has been a tremendous help to us.  His name is Sok Thy.  He is a zealous witness for the Lord.  Cindy's helper is a young lady named Setha.  She is an unsaved Buddhist.  Please pray for her salvation and for the salvation of her sister who is 19.  Her name sounds like "pizza" and I don't yet know to spell it.  I will figure it out and send it to you next time.

I will be traveling with some Vietnamese colleagues to Kompong Chnnang this Friday to hold services there.  We plan to visit the floating village where tens of thousands of Vietnamese live in an actual floating fishing village.  Sunday I will be preaching in Bro. Mike Valdez' church in the relocation camp outside of Phnom Penh.  There are thousands and thousands of displaced people here living in awful conditions.  Please pray for us as we go.  It is somewhat difficult to reach in the rainy season.  You might pray for us to raise the money to buy a four wheel drive.

I am awaiting the next session to begin at the University to study the Khmer language.  There will be a tutor for the study of Vietnamese.  Please remember to pray for our language studies.

Today I was blessed to be able to sing for the Lord at the Bible College.  The students enjoyed hearing a hymn that they know in their language, but heard me sing it in English (Blessed Assurance).  Cindy has started an English class to minister the gospel to children.  She only advertised it once and 45 boys and girls showed up for the first class!  Leah and Kayla help her with this class.  We are so excited to be here and to serve God in a place where the majority have never heard the gospel!

Pray for us!
